Family Balaenopteridae
 Blue Whale Humpback Whale
Members of this family are also known as rorqual whales. They range in size from the 30 feet minke whale to the 100-foot blue whale. The baleen plates in this family of whales are short and broad. They feed by gulping large quantities of water into their mouths and then shooting it out through the baleen. This filters the food out of the water. They feed in the summer and spend the winter months living off of stored fat. This family of whales is usually found in groups of up to 5 animals.
