Members of the weasel family (mustelids) are most famous for the strong-smelling fluid they secrete called musk. Each individual had its own scent that is used for defense and territorial markings. Some live on land and others live in the water. The smallest is the Least weasel, weighing less than 2 pounds. However, the Giant otter can weigh 1000 times as much. Mustelids are found on all continents except Australia and Antarctica.
